The Search Function of Capital: Why Some Investment Bubbles Build the Future
Prof. Dr. Alexander Bykovski · EnergeticaX Institute, Abu Dhabi · ORCID: 0009-0000-0153-6008
Investment bubbles are conventionally analysed as episodes of speculative excess. This paper proposes a complementary framework: the search function of capital. Drawing on historical evidence from railway infrastructure, electrification, and the internet expansion of the 1990s, the paper argues that certain investment bubbles generate durable productive infrastructure even as they destroy investor wealth.

The Myth of Secret Commands: Semantic Compression, Cognitive Compatibility, and Meaning Drift in Human–AI Systems
Alexander Bykovski · EnergeticaX Institute, Abu Dhabi · ORCID: 0009-0000-0153-6008
The rapid adoption of generative AI has given rise to informal practices described as "secret prompts" or "hidden commands". This paper argues that such practices are better understood as forms of semantic compression whose effectiveness depends on cognitive compatibility and shared context, not on privileged model access.

Journal Profile
Aims & Scope

EX-JICS publishes original peer-reviewed research at the intersection of three interconnected fields: energy systems, artificial intelligence, and the science of complex adaptive systems. The journal is open to theoretical, empirical, and applied contributions that advance understanding of how energy, information, and intelligence interact in natural and engineered systems.

Energy SystemsThermodynamics of civilization, energy transitions, energetic epistemology, physical economics
Artificial IntelligenceHuman–AI interaction, semantic systems, cognitive architectures, AI in complex environments
Complex SystemsSelf-organization, emergence, adaptive systems, systemic risk, network dynamics
